On November 5th, more than 400 children
from 23 NYC public Middle Schools participated in the CHAMPS
culminating event on Randalls Island, NY. They participated
in a round robin tournament and received coaching instruction
and clinics from Metro Soccer NY staff.
The CHAMPS
Middle School Sports and Fitness League is an initiative
of the New York City Department of Education that promotes
student physical activity during the critical years of middle
school. The name CHAMPS derives from the initials of the
five characteristics that describe our participants: Cooperative,
Healthy, Athletic, Motivated and Positive Students.
